Meet and Greet Reception Volunteer
Our friendly and approachable Reception Volunteers make sure that all the visitors to our rehoming centres feel welcome and have an enjoyable experience. They also help our receptionist staff provide members of the public with assistance and information.
What will you be doing?
- acknowlede and welcome visitors when they arrive at the centre in a friendly, professional and efficient manner
- direct visitors to members of Dogs Trust staff who can assist them when needed
- take phone calls, direct queries, respond to voicemail messages and emails
- explain the rehoming procedure to visitors and help them complete home finder forms
- help keep literature well stocked in the welcome areas
- keep the reception area nice and tidy during public open hours
- assist other members of the team as needed
- be knowledgeable on the work of Dogs Trust and specifically your Rehoming Centre
- other administrative tasks as requested by Dogs Trust staff.
We’re looking for someone with:
- excellent customer service and communication skills (previous experience working in a customer service environment is desirable but not essential)
- a friendly, confident and approachable manner
- conscientious with a can-do attitude
- able to use own initiative with a common-sense approach to problem-solving
- a non-judgmental and diplomatic approach
- ability to follow instructions
- good IT skills, specifically Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Outlook would be helpful but not essential
- an interest in dogs and dog welfare.
What this role will offer you:
We will provide you with a main contact who will manage your tasks, answer any questions you might have and help you with the volunteer rota. You’ll also receive ongoing role-specific training, guidance and support as well as an opportunity to gain and develop new skills. We will provide a Dogs trust volunteer uniform, and will recognise the work you are kindly undertaking by enrolling you in our Volunteer Merits Scheme.
