How accessible is this website?
This accessibility statement applies to www.dogstrust.org.uk run by Dogs Trust. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- resize the screen down to 320x256px without the need for two-dimensional scrolling
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

- SC 1.3.1 info and relationships - some buttons are not correctly identified; some pages have text that looks like a heading but is not tagged correctly
- SC 1.3.2 Meaningful sequence - Technical Content is not hidden from a screenreader
- SC 2.1.1 Keyboard navigation - Rehoming centre map is usable by keyboard but not clear to a keyboard user this is possible.
- SC 2.4.1 bypass blocks - Dog school salesforce form does not allow ability to bypass

- SC 1.3.5 Identify Input Purpose – postcode does not autocomplete (dog search due to full address/postcode not needed for location search)
- SC 1.4.3 Colour contrast – DFC form does (MS forms) not meet colour contrast conformities
- SC1.4.10 reflow – some content cannot be presented without loss of functionality and without scrolling in two dimensions – dog school form (Salesforce)
- SC 1.4.11 non text colour contrast – some adjacent elements do not have the required colour contrast of 3:1
Disproportionate burden
The following has been identified as Disproportionate Burden and will be reviewed yearly.
- adding subtitles to existing media created before 2018
- adding accessibility features to existing interactive media created before 2018
- identified low traffic content, due to the prioritisation of key content across our sites
- transient rehoming content with a short shelf life
How we tested this website
Our website are currently being tested for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V2.1 level A and level AA using a combination of automated tools and self-evaluation. We also employed a consultant in 2023 to offer recommendation and advice. Since then a rolling programme of fixes and improvements have been implemented. Next audit due 2025.
