Alfie needed urgent life-saving treatment.

Thousands of dogs are arriving in our care with serious medical conditions. You can be the lifeline they desperately need.

When Alfie arrived in our care, his world had been turned upside down. Not only was he in need of a new home, but a routine veterinary check revealed a life-changing diagnosis. Alfie had diabetes which meant he would need life-saving insulin injections twice a day to keep him alive.

Alfie was terrified of needles, making it almost impossible to administer the treatment he needed to survive. But with gentle training, veterinary expertise and the dedication of a loving foster carer, Alfie slowly began to trust again.

Without immediate treatment, the lives of dogs like Alfie are at risk. Your donation today could help provide the vital treatment, surgery and ongoing care dogs need to survive and recover.

Veterinary costs are rising. From 2023 to 2024 alone, the average cost of treating a dog within our rehoming centres increased by over 13%. In 2024, we treated 10,467 dogs, and our total veterinary costs reached £5.4 million. Despite these increases, our commitment to dogs like Alfie remains unwavering as we never put down a healthy dog. But we urgently need your support to keep this promise.

Sadly, we are seeing increasing numbers of pawly dogs with medical needs coming into our care. We're determined to be there for every dog that needs us. Will you be there too?

Maurice

Maurice suffers from ongoing eye issues, including an ulcer and dry eye. This is a painful condition that requires daily eye ointments to stay comfortable and protect his sight.

Dolly

Dolly needed urgent surgery to repair her dislocated kneecap. Without it, she would have faced ongoing pain and damage to her hind leg. She’s still healing through hydrotherapy and vet visits.

Pingu

Pingu lives with epilepsy. Without regular medication and constant monitoring, his seizures could become life-threatening. But this lifelong commitment is making it harder for him to find his forever home.

Your gift today could help ensure pawly dogs, like Alfie, can receive life-saving treatment. Will you be their lifeline today?

Thank you.

Donations will go towards all areas of Dogs Trust's work and help care for dogs where the need is greatest.
