Introducing the Underdogs

Meet the long term residents patiently waiting for their forever homes.

Underdog Bruno needs a home

Most dogs will stay with us for 60 days. However, when dog lovers apply to adopt from us, some dogs get more "favourites" than others, meaning they find their happy place in forever homes quicker.

We care for many dogs who have more specific requirements, meaning they struggle to catch the eye of potential new owners and can take longer to find the right match. These dogs are our ‘Underdogs.’

Underdogs are dogs who have been in our care for six months, or more. They may need extra training, ongoing veterinary treatment or a home with no children or dogs. Or, in some cases, they are simply overlooked.

Finding a dog their forever home is always our top priority. And for as long as we can ensure their health, happiness and wellbeing in our care, we’ll do everything we can to find their perfect match, however long it takes.

Could your home be an Underdog's happy place?

Although this group of long-term lodgers have been in our centres for longer, they have lots of love to give! Whilst they stay with us, they benefit from regular time with our training teams to ensure that we can help them – and you – prepare for life in their forever homes. And, as we know them so well, we’ll be able to help you decide whether you and your new home could be their perfect match.

And, as we believe a dog is for life, we’re here to support you and your Underdog for as long as you need us. When you’re browsing through the rehoming gallery, you can search specifically for ‘underdogs’ in the additional filters on our rehoming page, because one of these long-term lodgers could be just what you are looking for.

Meet our Underdogs

Could you give a forever home to one of our underdogs who has been waiting patiently for the perfect pal?

Help our Underdogs

Our Underdogs have been in our care for six months or more. Whilst they are with us we provide all they need to be healthy and happy, and support them in finding forever homes with vital training and any medical care they may need.

Will you help us care for our Underdogs whilst they await their perfect home?

Jenny's success story

Stray underdog Jenny found her forever home.

Jenny was only around 9 months old when she arrived as a stray. She struggled with her confidence and found the world a bit daunting, but we worked with her and slowly she learned better ways of dealing with her worries.

Before long she was ready to find her forever home and was matched with the perfect people to continue bringing out the best in her.

"Jenny is doing so well. She is very much a big part of our family - so funny, so loving and her confidence has grown a lot.

We are so grateful to you all. You do an amazing job and Jenny is living proof."
