- Pets are viewed as family members, meaning animals and owners are kept together as far as possible throughout their housing journey.
- Responsible pet ownership and high levels of animal welfare are promoted by housing provider.

Have an inclusive pet policy
Email usImplement an inclusive and accessible pet policy that meets animal welfare needs, and has clearly defined guidelines. We will provide you with a template pet policy during accreditation, or you can get in touch to request our pet policy template.

Prioritise health and safety
Consider pets in Health and Safety procedures and policies, to provide a safe environment for staff, tenants and pets. We will provide you with training videos for staff and wording for relevant policies.

Ensure staff understand how to deal with pet-related matters
You will receive bespoke information packs for your staff, to ensure they and know when and where to signpost for support.

Promote responsible pet ownership
Use our tenant-facing resources to promote responsible pet ownership.

Consider pets in context of domestic abuse
Signpost or refer tenants to our fostering service Freedom or Cats Protection's Lifeline where appropriate.
